上御殿について 日本語

Our inn was built in 1657 for Yorinobu Tokugawa, the feudal lord of Kinokuni as a site for bathing and relaxing.
The Tokugawa rulers ordered the Ryujin family to maintain this isolated resort. In 1999 the Japanese government registered Kamigoten Ryokan as a tangible cultural asset and precious cultural heritage.
The ruler, Yorinobu Tokugawa stayed in Onarino-ma (the room built for the ruler) where one can still fell the atmosphere of ancient times.
Our family has lasted for 820 years with our ancestral history descending from the 5th son of Genzanmi Yorimasa (1104〜1180), a member of the famous Genji aristocratic family.
Our family has proudly owned and managed Kamigoten for 29 generations.

Our inn was loved by the famous Japanese novelist, Ariyoshi Sawako who stayed here several times and particularly enjoyed the onsen baths.
